“THE TRIP MADE IT OUT THE GROUP CHAT”

The phrase went viral because everyone related to it. People weren't just excited about booking a trip, they were celebrating surviving the planning, and that reaction is what started this idea.

86% EXPERIENCE FRUSTRATION WHEN PLANNING FOR A TRIP.

Amadeus & Microsoft, 2023

(01: 75% USED SCATTERED TOOLS TO PLAN THEIR TRIP.)

Apps like Google Maps, Wanderlog, Google docs, created a messy planning process, and crucial information would be getting lost in group chats.

(02: 60% MENTIONED THAT ITINERARY BUILDING WAS THE MOST STRESSFUL.)

Participants mentioned how it was difficult to use all of these apps and build a solid itinerary that would accommodate everyone.

(03: 96% OF PARTICIPANTS HAD SOMEONE TAKE OVER.)

Since tools were so scattered, some participants either gave up the planning process and relied on someone else to do the planning for them, or they took the responsibility.

(01: POGO & WANDERLOG)

More focused on the planning aspect rather than collaboration, which was more of an add-on than built-in.

(02: GOOGLE DOCS)

Allowed for the freedom of itinerary planning, but no travel specific features.

(03: OTHERS (MAPS, MESSAGE, EXPEDIA, ETC.))

Everything else solves a specific piece, but nothing brings the group together from the start.

OUR INITIAL IDEA TAUGHT US THE HARD TRUTH.

We turned insights into opportunities and mapped nearly every pain point directly into a feature.

AFTER USER TESTING, WE CONCLUDED THAT THIS ITERATION WAS JUST TOO MUCH.

The feedback was immediate, and we had built exactly what our problem was. Participants mentioned that this had too many features, and was just as cluttered as other planning products they’ve used. We then recognized a system that our research led us to.

(01)

IDEAS GET SCATTERED, ARE EVERYWHERE AND PLANNERS GET OVERWHELMED.

(02)

THERE’S NO SHARED SPACE, WHICH MAKES ONE INDIVIDUAL TAKE OVER PLANNING.

(03)

THE REST OF THE GROUP PASSIVELY CONTRIBUTES, LEAVING THE MAIN PLANNER GUESSING.

(04)

SINCE NO ONE KNOWS WHAT THE COLLECTIVE WANTS, THE TRIP STAYS IN THE GROUP CHAT.

How might we design a digital platform for group travel so that planning feels fun, social, and memorable, and part of the traveling experience—not just a logistical burden?

USING THAT SYSTEM, WE CREATED TOGATHER, AN AI-POWERED ITINERARY BUILDER WHERE YOU AND YOUR FRIENDS CAN CONTRIBUTE TO THE WHOLE TRIP, TOGETHER.

DROP ACTIVITIES TO DO IN AN IDEA BOARD, THEN VOTE ON THEM COLLECTIVELY, SO NO ONES LEFT UNHEARD. YOUR VOTE WILL BE EVALUATED WITH OTHERS DECISIONS AND SEPARATED INTO TIERS:

TIER 1: MOST VOTED TO GO

TIER 2: NICE TO GO

TIER 3: OPTIONAL

FILL IN THE BASICS, THEN LET TOGATHER HANDLE THE REST. THE APP WILL CREATE AN EDITABLE, AND LIVE ITINERARY FOR EVERYONE IN THE GROUP. FLIGHTS, ACTIVITIES, HOTELS... EVERYTHING IN ONE PLACE FOR YOUR CONVENIENCE.

SOMETIMES GROUPS CAN’T AGREE. AND, THATS NO ISSUE, TOGATHER SPLIT THAT PROBLEM. USING THE SPLIT FEATURE, THE APP ALLOWS FOR MORE OF A FLEXIBLE ITINERARY THAT ALLOWS USERS TO EXPLORE THEIR DIFFERENT INTERESTS.
